Trajen Odom Decommits from Ohio State Football Flips to Alabama.

Four-star linebacker Trajen Odom, one of the nation’s most sought-after defensive prospects, has officially decommitted from Ohio State and flipped his commitment to Alabama. Odom, a standout from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, had been a major piece of Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class but has now decided to join Nick Saban’s consistently dominant Alabama Crimson Tide.

Odom’s decision comes after months of speculation and several unofficial and official visits to top programs across the country. His initial commitment to Ohio State seemed solid, as he expressed excitement about the Buckeyes’ defensive schemes and the chance to play under the guidance of defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. However, Alabama’s relentless recruiting efforts, combined with their proven track record of developing linebackers into NFL-caliber talent, became too appealing for Odom to overlook.

In a statement on social media, Odom expressed gratitude to the Ohio State staff, fans, and fellow recruits, emphasizing that the decision was not made lightly. “Ohio State has an incredible program and I have the utmost respect for everyone there,” he wrote. “This was one of the toughest decisions of my life, but after careful consideration and discussions with my family, I feel that Alabama is the best place for me to achieve my goals on and off the field.”

The flip to Alabama provides the Crimson Tide with an elite addition to their already impressive 2025 class. Odom’s speed, tackling ability, and natural instincts have made him a game-changing presence on the field, and scouts have praised his versatility, noting that he can excel in both pass coverage and run defense. His athleticism, combined with his relentless pursuit of the ball, makes him a perfect fit for Alabama’s defense, which prioritizes physicality and versatility at the linebacker position.

For Ohio State, Odom’s departure marks a significant loss. The Buckeyes had high hopes for the linebacker’s potential impact, and his decommitment leaves a gap that will be challenging to fill. However, head coach Ryan Day and his staff remain committed to maintaining the strength of their recruiting class as they pursue other high-profile prospects.

Odom’s commitment is another win for Alabama, reinforcing the program’s status as a powerhouse in securing top-tier defensive talent year after year. With his decision made, all eyes will be on the young linebacker as he begins preparing to compete in the SEC and develop into the next defensive star for the Crimson Tide.
