The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they had surprisingly cut offensive tackle Dylan Cook on Thursday. Cook was just activated off injured reserve on Wednesday, and now he will have to get through waivers before the team can bring him back on the practice squad. They have one spot left on the practice squad after re-signing Ade Ogundeji and Aaron Shampklin.

Cook had missed the last ten weeks after suffering a lisfranc injury during a joint practice against the Buffalo Bills. He landed on injured reserve to start the season. The Steelers have since signed Calvin Anderson, who is the swing tackle on both sides. In his first game action, he allowed a sack against the New York Giants.

Cook, who the team claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a year ago, was the ninth offensive lineman for the Steelers for most of the season. Pittsburgh has just two offensive linemen on their practice squad and could try to slip Cook through waivers to re-sign him.
