LSU football has long been recognized for its ability to recruit elite talent, and the 2025 class is shaping up to be no exception. Despite the challenges of maintaining commitments in the ever-competitive world of college football recruiting, the Tigers are demonstrating that strong relationships and consistent communication are key to holding their class together.

Recruiting in 2025 has been especially competitive due to the increased activity in the transfer portal, NIL dynamics, and relentless pressure from other programs. However, LSU’s coaching staff, led by head coach Brian Kelly, has embraced a people-first approach to ensure that committed players remain steadfast. The Tigers’ staff has gone above and beyond to foster genuine relationships with recruits, their families, and their high school coaches, solidifying trust and loyalty that are crucial in the recruiting process.

One standout example of this strategy is LSU’s pursuit of five-star quarterback Tyler Washington. The 6-foot-4 signal-caller from Texas has received offers from nearly every top program in the country. Despite this, Washington has remained firmly committed to LSU, citing his strong connection with the coaching staff, particularly offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock. “Coach Denbrock and Coach Kelly always make me feel like I’m a priority,” Washington shared in a recent interview. “It’s not just about football with them—they really care about me as a person.”

This sentiment is echoed by several other members of the 2025 class. Four-star wide receiver Jeremiah Simmons from Louisiana noted that his decision to commit to LSU was solidified by the sense of family he felt during his visits. “I’ve been to a lot of schools, but LSU feels different,” Simmons said. “The coaches and even the players are so genuine. They keep in touch and always ask about my family and how I’m doing off the field.”

Another key to LSU’s recruiting success has been their strategic use of current players as recruiters. The coaching staff encourages committed players to build camaraderie with one another and actively recruit uncommitted prospects. This peer-to-peer recruitment has been particularly effective in keeping the class together and attracting new talent.

Five-star linebacker Marcus Jackson, a vocal leader among the 2025 commits, shared how he views his role in helping LSU’s recruiting efforts. “I’m all in on LSU, and I want to make sure everyone else in our class feels the same way,” Jackson said. “We’re building something special, and I talk to the guys all the time to make sure we’re all on the same page.”

LSU’s emphasis on relationship-building extends beyond the players to their families. The Tigers host regular events designed to make families feel welcome and included, such as family days at Tiger Stadium and special dinners with the coaching staff. These efforts ensure that parents feel just as connected to the program as their sons, further solidifying commitments.

As signing day approaches, LSU remains steadfast in its approach. While other programs may attempt to flip their top recruits, the Tigers are confident that their emphasis on personal connections and genuine care will keep the 2025 class intact. For LSU, recruiting is more than just securing talent—it’s about building a family, and that strategy is paying off.

If LSU can maintain this momentum, the Tigers are poised to bring in one of the strongest recruiting classes in the nation. With a mix of elite talent and a relationship-driven approach, the future in Baton Rouge looks bright.
