Along with Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan are favorites to land the offensive lineman. Pitt, Virginia were others considered for Spindler’s talents.
Spindler entered the transfer portal after Notre Dame’s loss to Ohio State in the National Championship Game.
Rocco Spindler started 23 games for Notre Dame at right guard and five at right tackle and not only would bring experience to Indiana’s line, he’d provide depth which is what the Hoosiers were lacking up front in the 2024 season. Per Lars Hansonfrom Athlon Sports, Spindler has allowed just two sacks at right guard in over 1,300 career snaps.
Spindler a 6-foot-5, 325 former four-star recruit from Clarkston, Mich. is the son of former Pitt Panther, Marc Spindler. Marc Spindler was selected in the 1990 NFL Draft and spent nearly a decade in the NFL.
Indiana has already picked up former Ohio State offensive line transfer Zen Michalski and former Indiana Hoosier and Colorado transfer Khalil Benson to beef up their offensive line.
Indiana lost some heavy hitters up front with starting right tackle Trey Wedig and starting center Mike Katic graduating and the status of Drew Evans won’t be known until fall camp as he recovers from an injury suffered during the 2024 season.
