The Georgia Bulldogs have scored big on the recruiting trail once again, landing a commitment from four-star running back Kealan Jones, one of the most electrifying offensive talents in the 2025 class. The Houston (TX) native announced his commitment to Georgia on Saturday, giving head coach Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo another dynamic playmaker to bolster the Bulldogs’ future backfield.

Jones, who stars at Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, is widely regarded as one of the top all-purpose backs in the nation. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, he combines explosive speed with excellent vision and receiving ability, making him a versatile weapon capable of impacting the game in multiple ways.

“I’m excited to announce that I’m 100% committed to the University of Georgia,” Jones said in a social media post. “The culture, the development, and the brotherhood stood out to me from the beginning. Georgia felt like home.”

Ranked as the No. 15 running back in the country and a top-250 player overall by 247Sports Composite, Jones chose Georgia over a strong list of finalists that included Texas A&M, LSU, Florida, and USC. His commitment gives Georgia another major win in the ultra-competitive SEC recruiting wars and continues their trend of stacking elite talent at the skill positions.

For the Bulldogs, Jones is the second running back commitment in the 2025 cycle, joining fellow four-star Isaiah West. Together, the duo has the potential to form one of the most dangerous one-two punches in future Georgia offenses.

“He’s a difference-maker,” said 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn. “Jones has the kind of home-run ability that fits perfectly in Georgia’s offense. He’s got great acceleration, can make defenders miss in space, and what really separates him is how polished he is as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.”

Jones had a breakout junior season in 2023, rushing for over 1,200 yards and 16 touchdowns while adding 400 yards receiving. His all-purpose skill set has drawn comparisons to former Georgia great James Cook, and his commitment gives the Bulldogs yet another versatile weapon to deploy in their ever-evolving offensive scheme.

For Kirby Smart, the commitment underscores Georgia’s continued dominance on the recruiting trail, even in hostile territory like the state of Texas. The Bulldogs’ recent success in Texas — a state traditionally dominated by Big 12 and SEC West programs — is a testament to their national recruiting approach and sustained on-field success.

Jones made his official visit to Athens earlier this spring and reportedly came away blown away by the coaching staff’s vision, the culture of competition, and the program’s track record of developing NFL-caliber backs.

“Coach Smart, Coach Bobo, and Coach McGee showed me how I could be used in the offense, and it was exactly what I was looking for,” Jones said. “They don’t just say you’ll get developed — they prove it.”

Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the nation’s best once again, and the addition of Kealan Jones adds speed, explosiveness, and versatility to the offensive side of the ball. His ability to contribute in both the running and passing game makes him a perfect fit for today’s modern college offense, and it’s easy to see him playing a major role in Athens in the years to come.

As Georgia continues to reload instead of rebuild, landing a four-star back like Jones is just another reminder that the Bulldogs remain the gold standard in college football recruiting — and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
