The Purdue Boilermakers are entering the 2025–26 men’s basketball season with renewed vigor, aiming to build upon their recent successes and navigate the challenges ahead.

Roster Dynamics and Key Returnees

The departure of standout center Zach Edey, who was selected ninth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2024 NBA Draft , leaves a significant void in Purdue’s lineup. However, the Boilermakers retain a strong core, including senior guard Fletcher Loyer, who averaged 13.8 points per game and led the Big Ten in three-point percentage at 44.4% last season . Point guard Braden Smith, the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year, also returns, providing leadership and playmaking abilities .

Emerging Talent and New Additions

Sophomore guard CJ Cox is expected to take on a more prominent role after a promising freshman season, where he recorded multiple double-digit scoring games . The Boilermakers have bolstered their frontcourt by adding 7’4″ center Daniel Jacobsen, who set a Team USA record with 19 blocks during the FIBA U-18 AmeriCup . Additionally, Purdue secured commitments from transfer players Oscar Cluff, a big man from South Dakota State, and sharpshooter Liam Murphy from North Florida .

Early projections place the Boilermakers at No. 11 nationally, the highest-rated Big Ten team in current forecasts .
