In one of the most shocking twists of the 2025 recruiting cycle, five-star quarterback Luke Wicks has flipped his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Miami Hurricanes — stunning college football fans and sending shockwaves through the recruiting landscape.

Wicks, ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and a top-10 overall recruit, had long been considered a lock for one of the SEC powerhouses. He had previously committed to Georgia and was heavily courted by Alabama and Tennessee. But in a move few saw coming, Wicks announced via social media that he will be taking his talents to South Beach, giving Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes their biggest recruiting win in years.

“After much prayer, thought, and conversations with my family and coaches, I’ve decided to flip my commitment to the University of Miami,” Wicks posted. “This decision feels right in my heart, and I’m excited about what we’re building in Coral Gables.”

The decision immediately sparked buzz across college football. Wicks had been the centerpiece of Georgia’s 2025 class, and Alabama was making a late push to lure him to Tuscaloosa. Tennessee also remained in the mix, hoping to sway the highly coveted signal-caller with its high-octane offense.

Instead, Miami — a program that has struggled to return to national prominence for the better part of two decades — landed a massive win. Wicks’ commitment could serve as a turning point, potentially attracting more elite talent to the Hurricanes’ roster. Sources close to the program say Cristobal’s vision for the future, along with Miami’s revamped offensive system and NIL infrastructure, played a huge role in the quarterback’s decision.

Wicks is known for his rocket arm, elite pocket presence, and football IQ beyond his years. His junior season saw him throw for over 3,800 yards and 42 touchdowns,
