Expectations were high when the New York Jets brought in former first-round pick Justin Fields, hoping a change of scenery might unlock the potential that once made him a top NFL prospect. But just weeks into offseason workouts, the buzz surrounding Fields has taken a concerning turn.

According to multiple insiders at Jets OTAs, Fields’ performance on the practice field has been described as “alarming.” Reports indicate the former Ohio State standout is struggling with accuracy, decision-making, and overall command of the offense — issues that plagued him during his time in Chicago and continued during his brief stint with the Steelers.

Fields, now backing up veteran Aaron Rodgers, was supposed to benefit from learning behind a future Hall of Famer while pushing for a potential long-term role in New York. “He’s not seeing the field well right now,” one team source said. “It’s early, but the mistakes are piling up, and it’s hard to ignore.”

Observers at practice have noted a series of underthrown deep balls, late reads, and misfires on routine throws. While it’s still early in the offseason, and quarterbacks typically take time to adjust to a new system, the frequency and nature of the mistakes have reportedly left coaches concerned.
