Nick Dorn’s commitment to Indiana University marks a pivotal moment in the Hoosiers’ basketball resurgence under new head coach Darian DeVries. The 6-foot-7 guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, brings a potent scoring ability and versatile skill set that could significantly impact Indiana’s performance in the upcoming season.

During his sophomore year at Elon University, Dorn averaged 15.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, showcasing his proficiency as a scorer. Notably, he maintained a 35.6% shooting percentage from beyond the arc, with a significant portion of his shots—approximately 8.4 out of 11.6 attempts per game—coming from three-point range . His standout performances included a 17-point game against North Carolina and a 24-point outing against Notre Dame, where he combined for 10-of-16 shooting from three-point territory .

Dorn’s decision to join Indiana was influenced by the program’s transparency and the opportunities it presents. “The campus was really nice and the coaches were welcoming,” Dorn stated. “And the most important thing is they were honest and kept it real. I chose to commit because of the opportunities that the university and the basketball program can bring and what I can bring to the program as well” .

Under Coach DeVries, Indiana has undergone a significant roster transformation, adding ten players from the transfer portal this spring, including Dorn. This overhaul aims to revitalize the team following a challenging season that concluded with a 19–13 record and a 10–10 mark in Big Ten Conference play, leading to the departure of former head coach Mike Woodson .

Dorn’s arrival is anticipated to bolster Indiana’s perimeter offense, providing the team with a reliable outside shooting threat. His ability to stretch the floor and contribute defensively adds a new dimension to the Hoosiers’ gameplay. With two years of eligibility remaining, Dorn is poised to play a crucial role in Indiana’s quest to reestablish itself as a formidable force in college basketball.

As the Hoosiers prepare for the 2025–26 season, the integration of players like Nick Dorn signifies a new era for Indiana basketball, characterized by strategic recruitment and a renewed commitment to excellence on the court.
