Texas lands visit from nation’s No. 1 DT

Cedar Hill (TX) star Jalen Brewster—the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2027 class and a top-10 national prospect—spent June 11 on the Forty Acres, taking in an official visit to Texas guided by defensive line coach Kenny Baker . The 6-foot-3, 300-pound standout is regarded as one of the most sought-after recruits in the country.

What Brewster said on the trip

At his visit, Brewster tweeted “#THISISTEXAS” as he toured facilities . His excitement was evident from earlier conversations with Texas staff—particularly Baker. “Coach Baker… I can tell he’s a real dude. He wants to get down to it—find out if you really love football and where your heart and mind is at. But I love that,” Brewster said back in May .

Elite athleticism meets high-end evaluation

On3’s Charles Power praised Brewster’s combination of size, athleticism, and movement. “Jalen Brewster is an elite athlete at 6‑foot‑3 and 300 pounds. He can really run. He’s had some fantastic showings on the camp circuit this spring,” Power said . That rare blend of speed, size, and technique has made Brewster a coveted target across the nation.

Longhorns making a push

Texas has escalated its pursuit of Brewster under the leadership of Kenny Baker, demonstrating their commitment during this official visit window . On3 ranks him as the No. 8 overall player nationally, while the 247Sports composite and On3 both slot him atop the 2027 defensive tackle list .

Recruitment heating up

Brewster isn’t just hearing from Texas—offers reportedly came in from powerhouses like Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas A&M, with Michigan’s coming as early as mid‑June . He visited Ohio State earlier this month and has named them among his “top two” programs . Texas, clearly, is positioning itself firmly within that elite duo.

Conclusion: Big weekend for Texas

His Texas visit follows a concerted recruiting weekend that included multiple official visits, positioning the Longhorns as strong contenders for Brewster’s commitment . With Texas currying favor, Ohio State making pushes, and other blue-bloods in the mix, Brewster’s recruitment is one of the most closely watched in the 2027 cycle.

At 380 pounds with rare athleticism, Brewster’s eventual decision could significantly impact the national balance of power in defensive line recruiting.
