Jax Tanner Sets Commitment Date to Michigan.

One of the Midwest’s most coveted prospects, four-star offensive lineman Jax Tanner, has officially set his college commitment date — and Michigan fans have reason to pay close attention. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound tackle out of Springfield, Illinois, announced on Monday that he will reveal his college choice on July 13th, with the Michigan Wolverines among his final contenders.

 

Tanner, ranked as one of the top 20 offensive tackles in the 2025 class, has been a priority target for several Big Ten and SEC powerhouses. However, Michigan has emerged as a clear frontrunner after months of consistent communication, multiple visits to Ann Arbor, and strong relationships with offensive line coach Sherrone Moore and head coach Sherrone Moore.

 

“Coach Moore has really made me feel like a top priority,” Tanner said in a recent interview. “Michigan is a place where I can see myself developing both on and off the field.”

 

The Wolverines, known for their tradition of producing elite offensive linemen, have used that legacy as a strong selling point. Over the past several years, Michigan has turned out multiple NFL draft picks from the offensive front and continues to emphasize line development as a key piece of their identity.

 

Tanner has also taken official visits to Penn State, Nebraska, and Tennessee, but sources close to the situation believe Michigan holds the edge heading into his decision. The Wolverines’ recent offensive line dominance — including back-to-back Joe Moore Awards — has only reinforced the appeal.

 

Recruiting insiders note that Tanner’s style of play — physical, disciplined, and technically sound — fits Michigan’s scheme perfectly. He’s a powerful run blocker with good footwork and agility in pass protection, making him a plug-and-play potential for the Wolverines’ system.
