Another top running back has hit the transfer market.

Michigan running back Justice Haynes, who was viewed as a possible 2026 NFL draft prospect, announced on Friday that he will return to college football next season but will enter the transfer portal. Haynes began his career at Alabama before transferring to the Wolverines ahead of the 2025 season.

Haynes ultimately finished as Michigan’s second-leading rusher, totaling 857 yards and 10 touchdowns on 121 carries. He was leading the Big Ten in rushing before a foot injury suffered in October, which cost him the remainder of his season.

Still, he earned Third Team All-Big Ten honors for his efforts before the injury.

Haynes’ decision to return to school came as a slight surprise, given the fact that he had legitimate NFL draft hype and was viewed by some analysts as a top-five running back prospect. Instead, he’s coming back to boost his stock further following an injury-limited season.
