Lions Trade Proposal Lands Them $94 Million Pro Bowler in Blockbuster Deal
For much of the 2024 NFL season, it looked like this could be the year the Detroit Lions finally broke through and made it to their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
Unfortunately, they fell well short of that goal.
Now they find themselves with a bunch of open cap space and some issues to fix on defense during the 2025 offseason.
There is some hope that those fixes could include a move for a big name to add to a defense that already has some star power.
A new trade proposal outlined an idea for them to get exactly the type of big name that would have fans excited for the team’s prospects next season..
In their 2025 offseason trade guide, Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department proposed a blockbuster trade between the Lions and Las Vegas Raiders
The hypothetical trade would see the Lions give up their first-round picks in 2025 and 2026 along with QB Hendon Hooker in exchange for Raiders edge Maxx Crosby and the Raiders’ fifth-round pick in this year’s draft.
If you’re hoping the Lions make a big move this offseason to revamp their defense, I don’t think you could ask for much more than this.
Crosby is coming off of a slow year by his standards, posting just seven and a half sacks in 12 games. However, he still managed to rack up 35 pressures and his numbers the two previous years were among the best in the league.
In 2022 he 12.5 sacks and 47 pressures, earning himself sixth place in the Defensive Player of the Year voting. In 2023 those numbers went up to 14.5 sacks and 50 pressures while he finished fourth in the DPOY voting.
Crosby was also named an All-Pro for the second time in his career in 2023.
Pairing him with Aidan Hutchinson would give the Lions the NFL’s most intimidating pass rush and could cover up some of their issues in coverage.
The deal would also allow them to keep plenty of draft capital for 2025 to be able to fill other needs on their roster.
The Lions are at a point where they should be ready to go all-in on winning a Super Bowl right now if the correct player becomes available. Crosby is that correct player and if they could land him at this price, they should pull the trigger on a deal.
