Mountaineers Reloaded: Full Positional and Eligibility Breakdown of WVU’s 2025 Squad.

The West Virginia Mountaineers are entering the 2025 football season with a revitalized roster under head coach Rich Rodriguez. The team has seen significant changes, including the addition of 31 transfer players and 29 high school prospects, aiming to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season .

 

Quarterbacks

The quarterback position is a focal point of competition. Redshirt junior Nicco Marchiol is contending with Texas A&M transfer Jaylen Henderson and Charlotte transfer Max Brown for the starting role. Behind them, redshirt freshman Khalil Wilkins and true freshman Scotty Fox are developing their skills .

 

Running Backs

The backfield boasts depth and experience. Jahiem White returns as a junior, joined by redshirt senior Tye Edwards. The team also added Jaylan Knighton, a transfer from Miami and SMU, to enhance their rushing attack .

 

Wide Receivers & Tight Ends

The receiving corps has been bolstered by transfers, including Jordan McCants. Freshman tight end Jackson Accuardi, standing at 6’7″, adds a significant presence to the offense .

 

Offensive Line

The offensive line features a mix of size and youth, with freshmen like Eidan Buchanan (6’9″) and Gavin Crawford (6’3″) bringing fresh talent to the trenches .

 

Defensive Line

The defensive front is anchored by seniors such as Jimmori Robinson and Edward Vesterinen. The unit includes a blend of sophomores, juniors, and incoming freshmen like Taylor Brown and Brandon Caesar, aiming to fortify the defense .

 

Linebackers

The linebacker group has been reshaped with the addition of transfers like John Lewis. Freshman Michael Hastie is among the newcomers expected to contribute .

 

Secondary

The secondary has seen an influx of talent through transfers and recruits, including Darrian Lewis and freshman Julien Horton, aiming to enhance pass defense .

 

With a restructured roster and coaching staff, the Mountaineers are poised to make a significant impact in the Big 12 Conference this season.
