West Virginia University is moving forward with a major upgrade to premium seating at Milan Puskar Stadium, aimed at boosting fan experience and increasing revenue through modernized hospitality options .

🔧 What’s Being Planned

Expanded premium sections along the press-box side—new suites, club seats, and loges—are all part of the design. WVU has partnered with Legends (co‑owners of the Cowboys & Yankees) and architects to determine the most in-demand seating types .

A comprehensive fan survey was conducted in 2024 through CSL/Legends, targeting ticket holders, donors, alumni, and corporate partners. Results influenced seat type, amenity preferences, and optimal locations .

đź’° Funding & Rollout Strategy

The Board of Governors granted approval for the “silent phase”—quiet donor discussions and securing major gifts. Strategy relies on one or two lead donations followed by a ladder of smaller contributions .

The initiative is part of a larger $658 million stadium overhaul, approved for early 2025, including new suites, club lounges, retractable roof, and retractable premium spaces. Some games in 2025 will relocate temporarily during construction .

🎯 Why Premium Seating Matters

Feature Benefit

Revenue boost Premium seating generates high-margin tickets and more consistent donor income—critical to close revenue gaps with peer schools

Enhanced fan experience Fans in suites and club areas enjoy climate control, buffet meals, TVs, bar service, and indoor restrooms (e.g. North Field Suites, Terrace Clubs)

Recruiting advantage New facilities send a clear message to recruits: WVU is investing in excellence both on and off the field

Diversified Energy Terrace Club Seats—open-air seats with access to a climate-controlled terrace, buffet, TVs, and bar service .

Premium Field Boxes—padded seats, heaters, in-seat food and drink service, and built-in screens .

đź•° Timeline & Next Steps

Current phase (“silent”): Steering committee securing lead gifts before public fundraising begins .

Donor outreach begins imminently; seating waitlists for 2026 are already open .

The $658 M renovation kicks off early 2025, with premium seating and suites among key initial upgrades . Partial home games during construction will move to neutral sites.

🎆 Bottom Line

WVU’s premium seating initiative is not just a facelift—it’s a strategic investment. By modernizing Milan Puskar Stadium with high-end suites, club lounges, and enhanced amenities, the program is addressing revenue needs, improving fan and donor engagement, and raising the recruiting profile. With funding conversations underway and construction set for 2025, Mountaineer Nation is poised for a first-class game-day experience in the years ahead.
