However, when it comes to landing elite 5-star talent—particularly at premium positions—Texas still has serious ground to make up against the nation’s top recruiting powerhouses.
Texas has made early inroads with a number of top-100 players, including several within state lines, but converting interest into commitments has proven more complex. While the Longhorns have landed a few blue-chip targets, they currently trail in the recruitment of consensus 5-stars like wide receiver Derek Meadows, defensive end Jordan Burton, and offensive tackle Ty Harrington. One major challenge is perception.
