Michigan has secured a major boost to its 2026 recruiting haul with the commitment of Massachusetts high school standout offensive lineman Marky Walbridge. The 6-foot-6, 270–280 lb tackle from Needham’s St. Sebastian’s High officially pledged to the Wolverines on June 25, choosing Michigan over powerhouse programs like Alabama and Penn State .

A long-time Michigan target, Walbridge first received an offer from the Wolverines in January 2023. Michigan’s offensive‑line coach Grant Newsome and head coach Sherrone Moore both made repeated visits to the East Coast to establish a strong connection — a strategy that has clearly paid off . At 6‑foot‑5½ and 285 lbs, he’s ranked as the No. 16 interior offensive lineman and No. 235 recruit nationally by On3, as well as the No. 2 overall player in Massachusetts .

By beating out heavyweights Alabama, Penn State, and Boston College, Michigan demonstrated its recruiting prowess — Walbridge received 27 scholarship offers, including from top-tier Power 4 programs . Under the Composite rankings, he’s rated as a three‑star prospect and the second‑best player in Massachusetts, a distinction that belies his stature on the line .
